What does it mean to be CERTIFIED?
We work with a NSF International approved independent labs to test and verify our products against a strict extensive "No List". Organizations such as the International Aloe Council and USDA ensure the ingredients we use are organic. We also manufacture in a GMP skin care facility in the U.S. We do not say we are clean without proof. These are the best standards you can want. Home or farmer market products are not tested, and not regulated by the FDA, therefore we suggest you ask about the vendor where they get their ingredients, how they know what is labeled on the ingredient bottle is what it says it is, and how they keep contaminants from entering their products, where do they produce their product.

What are hormone disruptors? Why do I need to be concerned?
All EcoNatura products are proud to be the first original products to be formulated “certified hormone-disruptor free”! The National Institute of Environmental Health and Sciences (NIEHS) as well as the World Health Organization has determined that endocrine/hormone disruptors are a global threat to our health. [Click here] to visit our list of resource studies on endocrine disruptors.

I am an adult with very sensitive skin. Can I use Ruby-Blue Bunny?
YES! Many grown-ups have purchased our Peter Rabbit brand because they could not find a store brand that worked with their sensitive skin. The Ruby-Blue Bunny brand replaces our old brand, Peter Rabbit - Organic Garden Fresh (see Peter Rabbit Letter). We use the same ingredients and abide by our "No List" making our new brands the perfect choice for any age and any skin type.

What is a light lather, and if I do not have suds am I still getting clean?
Prime ingredients in all shampoos are substances called surfactants (suds, bubbles) – short for "surface-active agents”. They are responsible for cleaning and lathering. There is no link between a surfactant's ability to clean and to produce foam, however, people have been lead to believe you need lots of bubbles and suds to get clean. That is simply not true. In fact there are effective shampoos formulated that do not or minimally lather. Surfactants can either be made chemically/synthetic or be obtained naturally through specific plants. Many companies use cheap chemicals to offer lots of suds, which makes it difficult to fill a bottle, so they use an “anti-foaming agent such as silicone” to lower the suds to fill the bottle. When the consumer adds water, presto “here comes the suds”, along with all the processed ingredients!

Is Ruby-Blue Bunny™ fragrance free?
Ruby-Blue Bunny or EcoNatura products never use any synthetic chemical fragrances. Ruby-Blue Bunny – Organic Garden Fresh™ with Carrots and Pumpkin has a mild scent that is naturally occurring due to the blend of organic botanical oils and used. Also, our organic-based products may have a slight variation in scent. Creating skin care is much like creating wine! Depending on the yearly conditions of the farm's soil and elements such as weather, the organic plants may react differently. For example, a wine grape may be sweeter one year as compared to a previous year. Flowers and plants can experience similar reactions that can affect their scent. Sometimes we are just at the mercy of Mother Nature, but at EcoNatura we are ok with that because we know our beautiful scents are all naturally derived from healthy sustainable organic gardens and tend to have low allergenic properties.

What is Prop 65? Does our products meet California Prop 65? Are EcoNatura and Ruby-Blue Bunny products effected by Prop 65?
"The California Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) said it intends to list aloe vera, whole leaf extract and goldenseal root powder as known to the state to cause cancer under Proposition 65." Ruby-Blue Bunny does not use Whole Leaf Aloe. Whole Leaf Aloe contains the latex, aloin which is the ingredient in question under Prop 65. This is the a bright yellow layer between the leaf and the inner gel.
Ruby-Blue Bunny only uses Aloe barbadensis inner fillet gel. We use proprietary formulation using aloe filet gel that is Certified by the International Aloe Council to ensure safety and ingredient integrity. Each batch is created and analyzed to ensure that the beneficial polysaccharides (acemannan) substances are present in high amounts and do not contain mineral fertilizers, pesticides, heavy metals or weed killers.
Prop 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires for all California businesses to provide “clear and reasonable” warnings to all California consumers if a product does contain any of the chemicals/substances listed by OEHHA that is known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. The warning is a requirement even in instances where the natural chemical substance has been detected in miniscule/trace amounts where the OEHHA safe harbor levels have not been identified and even when the exposure limit is below FDA, ANSI, and WHO guidelines. Natural occurring heavy metals in soil in which plants grow in, can possess a Prop 65 warning on a label for example. In California coffee has a Prop 65 warning, yet is is also noted for its benefits. However a Prop 65 warning is not required if the exposure to the chemical element (natural or synthetic) is below the safe harbor levels. Prop 65 only requires a warning on a product if the exposing chemical is above the safe harbor limits. A Prop 65 warning does not mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements.
As organic skin care specialist, EcoNatura continues to ensure our products meet or exceed Prop 65 requirements. Our essential botanical oils and extracts are sourced based on its 100% certified organic, pure and natural attributes, nothing added, nothing removed. Our products contain naturally occurring elements which are derived from naturally grown plants without any additives, preservatives, or adulterants. EcoNatura uses stringent testing with quality guidelines (see NO LIST) for all our essential botanicals oils and extracts. All our products are tested via an independent lab approved by the EPA, FDA and OECD. This is to ensure all our ingredeints remain 100% pure and natural through the skin care creation process.

Is Ruby-Blue Bunny tear-free?
Our formulations are pH balanced to be delicate on the eye. To be “clinically” tear-free we have to use a chemical eye numbing agent per the FDA. We choose not to use anything synthetic. By balancing the pH in our products, so that it is not acidic, there should be little sensitivity to the eyes. It is also important to note that tap water from the sink can have a low pH (acidic) and can also cause eye burning sensations.

The ingredients look like they have separated in the bottle? Is the product still usable?
Yes, definitely - just shake it well! EcoNatura products are derived from natural and organic botanicals and are formulated and tested to last for 24 months. Variable environmental elements such as freezing or sweltering temperatures may cause some of the heavier organic oils, such as jojoba, to separate and rise to the top. This does not mean the product has become less effective. A little shake and the product goes right back into solution.
